Protein Picks & Misses

If you’re like me, finding a protein bar that checks all the boxes—great flavor, clean ingredients, and solid nutritional value—can feel like a challenge. Recently, I decided to try RX Bar, and it didn’t disappoint. Here’s my honest review, including a breakdown of the flavors I tried, ingredient quality, and overall value.

First Impressions: Blueberry and Peanut Butter Chocolate Flavors

I started with the blueberry flavor. The bar had a satisfying chew and a natural sweetness, making it a pleasant surprise for a protein bar. Next, I tried the peanut butter chocolate flavor. This one was indulgent yet balanced, with the rich nuttiness of peanut butter perfectly complementing the chocolate.

Both bars tasted clean—no artificial aftertaste or overly sugary profile. If you’re looking for a bar that satisfies without overwhelming, these are great choices.

Breaking Down the Ingredients

RX Bars pride themselves on their transparency, and it shows. Each bar prominently displays its key ingredients on the front of the packaging. For example, the peanut butter chocolate bar includes:

  • Dates: A natural source of sweetness.

  • Egg whites: A lean protein source.

  • Peanuts: Offering healthy fats and flavor.

  • Chocolate: For a hint of indulgence.

The blueberry flavor has a similar base but features blueberries as its star ingredient. No fillers, preservatives, or mystery additives here—just whole, recognizable foods.

Nutritional Value

Each bar packs about 12g of protein, primarily from egg whites, and provides a mix of carbohydrates and healthy fats. The natural sugars from dates are a smart alternative to refined sugar, although it might be slightly sweet for those who prefer low-sugar options.

Rating the RX Bar

Here’s how I’d rate RX Bars across key categories (out of 10):

  1. Taste: 9/10The flavors were authentic and enjoyable, especially for a protein bar. The chewiness might not be for everyone, but I found it satisfying.

  2. Ingredients: 10/10Simple, clean, and whole ingredients. RX Bars set a high standard for transparency.

  3. Protein: 8/10While 12g of protein is decent, it’s slightly lower compared to other protein-focused bars. However, the quality of protein (egg whites) makes up for it.

  4. Value: 7/10RX Bars can be on the pricier side, depending on where you purchase them. The ingredient quality justifies the price, but it’s something to consider if you’re on a budget.

Final Thoughts

RX Bars are a solid choice for anyone who values clean eating without sacrificing flavor. The blueberry and peanut butter chocolate flavors both exceeded my expectations, and I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a portable, nutrient-dense snack.

Would I buy them again? Definitely—but I might keep them as an occasional treat rather than an everyday staple. If you’re curious, give RX Bars a try and see how they stack up to your favorites!
